Meerkat’s Vacation

Today’s guest author is Meerkat.

Hi, I’m Meerkat!  That’s my picture below.

As you can see, I am a Meerkat.  If you want to know more about meerkats, you can look here.  And you know, if it’s on Wikipedia, it must be true!

Anyway, a few days ago my little girl, she’s so cute, and I went with her parents to visit her grandparents.  We had a lot of fun.  But when everyone went home, they accidentally left me behind!  I missed my little girl, but I did have a lot of fun.

I played with some toys.

I even helped the little girl’s grandfather with some very technical computer problems.

I’m kind-of a wild ‘kat’ myself, even though I am not really a cat.  I’m a Meer-Kat!

All in all I had a great time on my vacation.  I miss my little girl but I had a lot of fun.  Her Daddy is coming to pick me up and take me back to her and I will be so happy when she gives me a big hug.  I hope my next trip is with her!

Where did 2014 go?

It’s not like we didn’t travel in 2014. We did. Quite a bit actually. We didn’t take a “big trip” last year but we did get to the east coast several times, made it to Indy and Chicago, etc. But for some reason we failed to blog any of it. To paraphrase an old family quote “If nobody blogged it, it didn’t happen.”

So for 2015, back to at lest minimally blogging our bigger trips. Speaking of which, vacation this summer is a five leg tour of all four US timezones. See subsequent posts for details. Happy summer!

New Year’s Eve – Boise Style

Seriously, they intend to use this crane to lower this giant fake potato from a height of about 60 feet, at midnight.

Boise crane

Boise potato

Seriously.

Update:

We were specTaters for this.  Got there a little before midnight.  We’ve never seen downtown Boise so crowded.  Turns out they didn’t use the giant potato on the flatbed truck.  Instead they had a ‘stunt spud’ to hang off the crane.  They got it about 12 stories above a parking lot before lowering it.  They had to speed up because the crowd started counting down from ten a little too early.  Anyway, it was a a goofy,  but fun way to end 2013.  Happy New Year’s everyone!
